Installers How we can help you

house with renewable energy systemsThe microgeneration certification scheme regulations have been developed to try and ensure that renewable energy systems are designed, produced, specified. installed and operated as efficiently as possible. The result of that is a requirement for a huge set of documentation.

However, it can be broken down into many small and manageable chunks, we provide designs for as many or as few of these chunks as required by our clients.

Heat Loss Calculations

Preparing heat loss calculations as required by the MIS 3004 and MIS 3005 installer standards, is probably one of the biggest hurdles facing installers, They are time consuming and complex.

We offer a great solution, our BS EN 12831 calculations are quick and efficient, we use sophisticated software, which allows us to import drawings, it also allows us to to calculate odd shaped rooms, curved walls cantalivered floors, etc, which provides a far mor accurate calculation than the square room fits all approach used by some less effective software our reports can even be branded to your style with your logo.

Generally we aim to provide the solution cheaper than the installer can when doing it himself.

MIS 3005 table 3 ground loop designGround Loop Heat Exchanger Design

If you manufacture or distribute ground source heat pumps, you will understand that the ground loop heat exchanger is one of the most crucial elements of the whole system. If it is undersized the heat pump will peform inefficiently, if it is oversized it will cost more to install than is necessary. If the hydraulics are incorrect it will not be as efficient as it could be.

How many plumbers and heating engineers understand geology, ground thermal conductivity and extraction rates?  We are able to review local site geology, report on the conductivity rates and provide a detailed ground loop design.

The benefits are clear,

Installers work inside their comfort zone

Manufactures have units that work as well as they designed them to

Suppliers have happy customers who recieve first class technical support.

Desktop Geology report

Most plumbing and heating contractors carry a van full of tools and maybe a copy of their favourite newspaper on the dashboard, we’ve yet to find one who carries a copy of William ‘strata’ Smith’s geological map of England. So why should they be expected to know the difference between Anhydrite and Limestone?

If it were not for the Microgenertion Certification Scheme and Installer standards MIS 3005, we wouldn’t, so why force installers out of their comfort zone, when we can very quickly and easily provide the answer for them.  Our geology reports, identify the site, identify the geology for both boreholes and horizontal collectors and provide the extraction rates as per MCS 022.

MCS 020 table 2MCS 020 Planning Standard document clearly states

The air source heat pump calculation procedure is set out in Table 2. MCS installation companies must complete one table for each assessment position that could potentially be affected by noise from the air source heat pump. To follow the instructions and complete the table, installation companies will need to refer to the definitions at the start of the table and Notes 1-7 set out after the table.

This refers to sound level calculations, determing whether the installation will be a noise nusance to neighbours

If we prepare sound level calculations our report includes a fully completed version of Table 2 along with a 3d drawing of the site showing the heat pump location and affected properties and can be used to show that the proposed installation will meet with planning regulations.

Having spent many years working in the UK renewable energy sector, we have first hand knowledge of how tough the industry is. Depite many claims of government support for the ‘green sector’ the reality is that anyone installing renewable energy systems and adhering to all of the legislation will find it hard going.

We work with installers

who have spent many years installing heating systems

who take a pride in their work

who have satisfied customers

who do the job right

who recognise that sometimes they just need a bit of help and support.

We provide installers with heat loss calculations, system specifications detailed design information, infact almost anything that does not involve the use of a spanner, screwdriver or blow lamp.  Please either check our services pages or telephone us to discuss your requirements and don’t take our word for it have a look at what some of our other clients have said.
